Thirty or so years ago, Marjorie York worked for a music store in downtown Cleveland, selling sheet music for solo instruments, band and orchestra. A few years later, Margie and her partner bought the store and renamed it B&Y Music. As often happens in small businesses, family members start helping out and soon her daughter, Lynn, became a full-fledged employee. Within another year, the partners made the decision to sell handbell music exclusively even though there wasn’t much music for handbells at the time. Go figure—it worked. They moved the operation to the suburbs— first to Fairview Park and then to the current location in Rocky River. Margie bought out her partner and she and Lynn have owned and operated ever since. That is, until October, 2005 when Margie retired. Lynn is continuing on with her mother’s tradition of personal service to the handbell community. Thank you, Margie.
